Classes - Jaguars

Welcome to Jaguar class!

Welcome to the Jaguar homepage
We are all in year 4 and enjoy being in the second year of the juniors

We follow the International Primary Curriculum so all of our topics are cross curricular which means we can really explore an area in depth. The topics for the year are Explorers (we are studying Christopher Columbus, Francis Drake and Walter Raleigh in detail), Inventions that Changed the World, Famous People and of course the Olympic Games in the summer of 2012!!

Here are some examples of our work. In ICT we used the PhotoStory 3 programme to show information about a famous explorer. Listen out for the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ backing music.

Click here to listen to Rihard and Oliver.

As part of our literacy we researched a famous explorer and presented it as though it would appear in an information book about explorers. Here is one example:

We have used various websites to help us with our learning but look at this website - it helps you get a clearer picture of how our world looks today. This site helped us with our geography and we compared the map of the world today with maps created by explorers all those years ago. Of course we know the world isn’t flat!

In numeracy we like to make lessons as interesting as possible so our teacher, Mrs Hughes, has created a shop. She likes the Harry Potter books so we have our very own Ollivander’s wand shop and we even made our own wands. Here is a photograph of our wand selection and just read the inscription on one of the boxes- magic!

We hope you enjoyed visiting our web page which will be updated throughout the coming year.
