Classes - Little Owls
This term twenty-seven new ‘Little Owls’ settled into school for the very first time. We have had lots of fun discovering new activities with our teachers Mrs.Green, Mrs. Hayward, Mrs. Rudd and Mrs. Phillips. Our class topic for this term has been ‘Journeys’ and we have been looking at all the different ways you can travel when making a journey, such as:-
In October we went on an exciting journey to Llangollen first by coach and then by steam train. We travelled by train from Llangollen up to the station at Carrog where we explored how stations used to look in the past. While on the station we ate our snack and the engine driver showed us how a steam train works from the footplate. The guard then blew his whistle to tell us that it was time to board the train again for the journey back to Llangollen. We all had a turn waving the guard’s red and green flags and talked to him about his job on the train.
After we returned to Llangollen we had a picnic and played in the park before going back to the coach for the journey back to school. While we were learning about trains Mr. Mayers brought one of his model trains into the school play area and showed us how steam is made to drive a steam powered train.
This half-term we are busy looking at the story of ‘The Naughty Bus,’ other activities including how maps are used, and travelling with Barnaby Bear to other countries in Europe. As Christmas approaches we will be preparing for our nativity performance which this year is entitled ‘The Snow Child’. We will all be taking part and are already learning to sing the songs and carols included in the musical play. We hope you have enjoyed reading about ‘Little Owls’ and we look forward to telling you more about our activities next term.
