Classes - Wrens
 |
|
|
|
This term Wren class have started a very special topic all about
famous people. As a school we have begun to use the
International Primary Curriculum which focuses on learning
through a cross curricular way e.g. we have listened to music
written by famous people (a great session when we all got up and
danced and rocked!), studied artwork by a famous artist called
Jasper Johns.

History is our next subject and we are looking at famous
Victorians.
We
also dressed up for the day, with Heron class, as a famous
person. We tried to choose someone who has made a difference to
the world we live in such as Abraham Lincoln, JK Rowling, Queen
Elizabeth 1, Van Gogh, Enid Blyton, Albert Einstein and Neil
Armstrong. Here are some photographs of us on our ‘dressing up’
day. Can you work out who we are? |

Wrens have decided
to create a fancy dress shop to make our topic ‘come to life’ in
our literacy work. We voted on a class name for our shop and
decided on ‘GO FAMOUS’. Our teacher, Mrs Hughes, asked us to
design a webpage for our shop and we tried this using Microsoft
Word.
Click on this link to view an example of one.
At the end of the
topic we will be inviting Heron class into our shop. We will
set the classroom
up
like a real fancy dress hire shop- we will have a desk,
telephone, laptop (with our databases about which famous people
we have costumes for!), an information sheet on various famous
people for our customers to read and a changing room for them to
try on the costume
(don’t tell them this part isn’t real!)
We watched the TV
programme Mr Benn for this idea! |

What
else have we done?
We researched,
wrote and prepared a short assembly on Remembrance Day. Here is
one of our class members reading the famous poem by a World War
1 soldier John McCrae.
