Maths at Parkgate Primary School follows the 2013 National Curriculum. The three key themes of fluency, reasoning and problem solving run throughout the curriculum in all year groups. We use Liverpool Maths Plans to ensure there is progression and coverage of the curriculum. Teaches use a range of high quality resources such as those from nrich, NCETM and the White Rose Maths Hub to plan their lesson.
In planning the curriculum staff look for opportunities to link maths to other areas of the curriculum and integrate outdoor learning.
Children from Year 1 to Year 6 have logins to MyMaths. Maths homework can be set using this, and children can use it to practise their skills.
Maths Games Library
This term we are setting up a Maths Games Library for Year 1 and Year 2. Check here for further updates. We hope to extend this to other year groups in the future.
Homework Survey for Parents
Thank you to everyone who answered the survey sent out in the summer term. We had 73 responses. This will help us to develop the effectiveness of the homework the school sets.
Over 95% of parents felt that their children had the correct amount of homework set by their class teacher and 75 % of parents said their children enjoyed their homework. MyMaths was seen as useful. When asked what type of homework parents thought would be usful the responses were mixed, with some parents wanting more 'traditional' paperbased activities and others wanting practical and exploring activities. 91% of parents felt they would use a maths games library.
