This week, we are going to be looking at 'time'

To introduce it to the children we start with 'seasons'.

Ask can they tell you the seasons- write them down . Then ask your child, what do they know about what happens in each of the seasons, e.g. Summer- holiday time (usually), Winter- Christmas time, Autumn- Halloween, Spring- Easter time etc . Talk about the weather too.Draw pictures to illustrate the activity in each season.

Then go on to months. Write out the 12 montths and with your child's help, place them into the 4 seasons.

We use this song to learn months of the year.

It's catchy a song, so beware, you might find yourself singing it to yourself!

Read Write Inc

This week, we are going to revised 'th' and practise writing captions.

Ready... lets go!

Roll and read. You will need at least 2 players, a die and counters. Roll the die- find the number- pick a word to read- if successful cover it with a counter. First player to have 3 in a row is the winner.

Oliver's Vegetables

Still on the theme of fruit and vegetables, listen to the story of Oliver Vegetables by Vivan French. You can either listen to it on youtube, or if you have the book yourself, get an adult to read it to you.

Think about what vegetables Oliver's grandpa grew. We planted some vegetable seeds before we finished school. How are they doing?

Enjoy the story!

Oliver's Vegetables
