Read the sound and the words containing the sound (recap Set 2 sounds and previous Set 3 sounds as you go along).

Practise spelling the words containing the new sound. Practise spelling some words from Set 2 and previous Set 3 sounds. 

Pick 3 common exception words from this list each day to practise spelling -


Use your story map from yesterday to write your own version of 'Stuck'. You can change the main character, Floyd, and the objects, animals and people he throws in to the tree.

Checklist for your story:

  • Capital letters
  • Full stops
  • Adjectives and noun phrases (describe your character and the objects they throw in to the tree).
  • Pronouns
  • Use 'and' to join words and clauses

Today we are going to use what you practised yesterday, to answer division word problems. 

Read the word problems and identify the important information. E.g. 'Sue has 20 sweets, She shares them equally between five bags. How many in each bag?'. How many groups do you need? (5). How many are you sharing between 5? (20). Draw 5 circles and share 20 between them, by putting a dot/cross in each one, one at a time, until you reach 20. Count how many dots/crosses in one group to find the answer.
