Maths- Repeated Patterns

Today is an action repeated pattern. With your child, model a repeated pattern.

For example  hop...jump... hop...jump

Ask them to tell you what you have done.

Now associate the hop with the letter A, and the jump with the letter B.

Tell them, so the action pattern I have done is A B A B A B.

Rearrange these actions to make the pattern...

A A B B A A B B A A -jump jump- hop hop- jump jump -hop hop

Using the letters, can they tell you what the pattern was?

Change the action , but keep to the letter code...

Patterns A B B A  A B B A  A B B A

B A B A B A

Swap round and get your child to challenge you with 2 actions and a repeated pattern.

If they've got it, you might want to introduce a third action 'C'

Then the patterns could be

ABC ABC ABC

AA BB CC AA BB CC

AA B C  AA B C

Good luck and maybe send a photo/vidoe clip with these super repeated actions on.

Still thinking about the sound 'oo' , (look at a book- short sound), find the pictures that have this sound in and have a go at spelling the word.
