Tigers - Year 1

Welcome to Tiger Class :)

Mr Hamm and Mrs Gregg

Welcome to Year 1! We're so excited about the year ahead. This year promises to be full of learning, growth, and memorable experiences. Together, we'll explore new learning, tackle exciting challenges whilst building a class who respect and care for each other. To parents, thank you for your continued support – we can't wait to work together to make this a fantastic year for your children!

Homework

English, Maths and spelling homework will be assigned on Google Classroom every Friday and should be completed by the following week.

In addition to your regular homework, I will be setting a "talking homework". This will involve a discussion task where you will be asked to talk about a specific question or topic. There’s no need to write anything down; just be ready to share your thoughts and have a good discussion when we meet. It’s all about building confidence in speaking and listening!

PE

PE will be taught on Mondays and Fridays. On these days, please make sure to wear your full PE kit. Depending on the weather and activity, we may be inside or outside, so be prepared for this in order to be active and have fun!

Reading

Please make sure your child brings their reading book to school every day. This will allow them to be listened to and work on their reading targets throughout the week. It’s also important for children to explore different genres, as this broadens their reading experience and helps them discover new interests. By reading a variety of texts, they’ll build their vocabulary, which supports both their writing and speaking skills. Regular reading not only boosts confidence but also enriches their language development, setting them up for success!
