Meerkats - Year 5
Meerkats Class ( YR5 ) 2025
Welcome to Meerkats Class :)
Mr Hewson and Mrs Holden
Welcome to Year 5! We're so excited to begin this incredible journey with you. This year promises to be full of learning, growth, and memorable experiences. Together, we'll explore new topics, tackle exciting challenges, and build a strong sense of community. To parents, thank you for your continued support – we can't wait to work together to make this a fantastic year for your children! Let’s make this an unforgettable year before the children move on to Year Six.
Homework
English & Maths homework will be assigned on Google Classroom every Wednesday and should be completed by the following week.
PE
PE will be taught by Mr. Kelly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On these days, please make sure to wear your full PE kit. Additionally, don’t forget to bring a spare pair of socks and shoes, as we may head out onto the field, where it could be wet and muddy. Let’s be prepared to stay active and have fun! On Wednesdays in the second half of the Autumn Term Y5 will be going swimming, so please bring in your swimming costumes.
Reading
Please make sure your child brings their reading book to school every day. This will allow them to be listened to and work on their reading targets throughout the week. It’s also important for children to explore different genres, as this broadens their reading experience and helps them discover new interests. By reading a variety of texts, they’ll build their vocabulary, which supports both their writing and speaking skills. Regular reading not only boosts confidence but also enriches their language development, setting them up for success!
