Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Music at Parkgate Primary School. We are very lucky to have so many musically talented children at our school and we try to provide as many activities and clubs as possible to accommodate children of every age and level.
We have three recorder groups: Beginner recorders run by Mrs Hibbert on a Tuesday lunch time. Intermediate recorders run by Miss Phillips on a Wednesday lunchtime and Advanced recorders run by Mrs Hayward on a Wednesday lunchtime. As the children progress during the school year, they move on to the next level.
On a Monday, after school, we have our Orchestra. At the moment we have 20 children playing a variety of instruments, but we are always looking for new member at any level. Our aim is to play together, in time and in tune. We have fun and enjoy playing for an audience. This club is free of charge. Please speak to Miss Phillips if you need further information.
Tuesday, before school, is our Ukulele group run by Mr. Jolliffe. Please speak to him if you would like to join he is in school on Tuesday mornings.
We also have a school Choir. They comprise of boys and girls and sing all different types of songs from Abba to traditional Christmas carols. We perform at lots of different events, Hallwood Court, Clatterbridge Hospital, Claire House Children's Hospice, the Christmas Fair, Neston Parish Church to name but a few. We are always looking for new members, please see Mrs Foster or Miss Phillips if you are interested in joining.
Sport and fitness is important to children here at Parkgate Primary. We all have 2 hours of curriculum time and there are extra curricular clubs; for example: football, dodgeball, multi skills, cross country, netball. We also take part in many inter schools competitions.
Lego Club
Lego club is run each week on a Friday lunchtime in the Year 6 classroom. It is organised by boys from Year 5. It is open to all age groups and is very popular with children from EYFS2, Year 1 and Year 2. The children can spend time with their friends making models and looking at books about Lego. Each week certificates are awarded for the best model.
Chess Club
Two chess clubs run at lunchtime. The first is run on a Friday lunchtime in the Year 6 classroom for children who can already play chess. A beginners class will be starting soon. Look out for the dates!
